Just before Christmas, Tommy Wilson's family was one nominated for the United Way giving campaign in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Wilson's wife had recently died unexpectedly in her sleep. So, his wish was for his daughter and son was happiness. And, for his 25-year-old son, Cedric Harris, he wished for scholarship money to help Cedric attend McNally Smith College of Music. Cedric had set aside his application to McNally after his mother died.

The college's president, Harry Chalmiers, learned about the story and intervened. The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/W41VBs) says he checked into Cedric and found he was a serious student worthy of the thousands of dollars in scholarship money.

News of a scholarship to his dream school left Cedric in tears.
