Wintry mix could make for difficult driving today

A wintry mix across the region, including Beltrami, Cass and Clearwater counties, could mean tricky traveling for commuters today.

Periods of light, freezing rain and snow was expected in Minnesota and far northeastern North Dakota.

The National Weather Service said it didn't expect significant ice accumulation, but roads were likely to become slick and 1-2 inches of snow could fall.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution, the weather service said.

The rain was expected to stop late Monday, with snow accumulating into Tuesday morning, prompting the weather service to issue a winter weather advisory.

A winter weather advisory means snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties, and motorists should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility.
