The Bemidji area is forecast to receive 6 to 12 inches of snow.
In addition, poor visibility is expected as winds increase to 10 to 25 mph Sunday afternoon.
Wind chill values are expected to be zero to 5 degrees.
Visibility "will be reduced to under a mile in open areas with blowing snow,” the weather service said in a statement issued Saturday afternoon. “Snow drifts could make some rural roads impassable.”
In addition, the weather service said “significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency.”
Those who do travel are urged to carry emergency supplies, including an extra flashlight, food and water.
