Winter storm warning issued for Bemidji area; up to 10 inches of snow could fall Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Tuesday in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, including the Bemidji area.

Bemidji received about 5 inches of snow on Monday. Another 4 to 8 inches could come during the day on Tuesday, and 3 to 5 more could come Tuesday night as the storm passes through the region.

Here's the latest forecast for the Bemidji area:

Tonight: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 10. North wind between 14 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow and widespread blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 17. Blustery, with a north wind between 16 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow and widespread blowing snow before 1am, then snow likely and areas of blowing snow after 1am. Low around -10. Wind chill values as low as -32. Blustery, with a north northwest wind between 23 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Wednesday: Areas of blowing snow. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 4. Wind chill values as low as -34. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 16 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -14. West wind between 7 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 14.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 0.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 27.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 12.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34.
