Winter storm warning canceled for Bemidji area; cold temperatures are in the forecast

The winter storm warning for the Bemidji area has been canceled, and a winter weather advisory for blowing snow is in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.

North winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 32 are causing blowing and drifting snow in the region. Snow will begin tapering off as the day winds down and the rest of the week should be clear and colder.

The latest forecast for the Bemidji area:

Late Afternoon: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 10. Blustery, with a north northwest wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of snow before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around -6. Wind chill values as low as -22. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 17 to 20 mph decreasing to between 9 and 12 mph. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 6. Wind chill values as low as -24. West northwest wind between 9 and 11 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -7. Wind chill values as low as -23. West northwest wind between 9 and 11 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 4. West northwest wind between 8 and 11 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near -2.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -13.
