PARK RAPIDS - Katelin Craft and Morgan Williams carded rounds of 88 to lead the Bemidji girls golf team at Monday's Park Rapids Invitational which was held at the par-72 Headwaters Golf Course.
Bemidji finished third in the 14-team meet with a total of 357. Detroit Lakes dominated the meet with 311 and Pequot Lakes was second with 352.
"The girls were a little disappointed with how they did but I think we're doing well," said BHS coach Jeff Nelson. "We still need to get away from our comfort zone. If we are comfortable shooting in the 90s we have to find a way to shoot in the 80s. If we are comfortable of shooting in the 80s we have to figure out a way to shoot in the 70s.
"The girls are working hard and continue to improve and once you can score out of that comfort zone a few times it will become easier," the coach added.
Craft fashioned rounds of 46-42-88 and Williams shot 42-46-88. Megan Dondelinger finished 46-44-90, Kelsey Isaacson shot 43-48-91, Morgan Miller was at 46-47-93 and Hailey Hinners had a round of 44-49-93.
Kate Smith of Detroit Lakes was meet medalist with a 34-38-72. Smith is only 12 years old.
The Lumberjacks are off until Saturday when they head to The Quarry near Biwabik for the Virginia Invitational.
