William "Bill" Wilson
William "Bill" Wilson, 88, of Bemidji, MN, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his home.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Trinity Free Lutheran Church, Pony Lake with Pastor Bill Goodman officiating. A Time of Sharing will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the spring in the Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Pony Lake.
William Joseph Wilson was born June 1, 1925 in Bemidji, MN to George and Cecelia (Brennan) Wilson. He grew up and attended school in Bemidji. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Pacific Theater. After his discharge, he returned to Bemidji where he worked for Naylor Electric for 10 years. On October 26, 1947 he married Delphine Speckmann in Puposky. They made their home in Bemidji and Bill worked for Lakehead Pipeline for 10 years. He then went to work at Hibbing Taconite for 12 years and retired in 1989. Bill loved deer hunting, enjoyed duck hunting with his friends and working in the garage with his granddaughter making things. He was always there for his children fixing and helping where needed. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, member of the American Legion and member of the 40 & 8.
He is survived by his wife, Delphine Wilson of Bemidji; son, Tim (Nancy) Wilson of Bemidji; grandsons, Michael and Joseph Gudim; daughter, Sherry Wilson of Bemidji;; very special granddaughter, Sammie; brothers, Red (Darlene) Wilson of Bemidji, Sam (Letitia) Wilson of Yuma, AZ and Jeff (DeLores) Wilson of Bemidji; sisters-in-law, Donna Wilson of Bemidji and Shirley Wilson of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Cecelia Wilson; sister, Alice Wilson and brothers, John Wilson and Matthew Wilson.
