Wider opportunities for public transit are needed

It is unfortunate that in this time of "belt tightening" and "saving the environment" that the only company that offers public transportation in this area only offers two outbound rides for those of us living "out that way" -- which is no more than 2 miles outside the city limits.

We considered purchasing a bus pass for our teenage daughter this summer, but, with the limited availability of the bus, it made no sense. Perhaps as a community we should think about spending money toward resources people use and need year round -- such as more public transportation and activities for children than toward unnecessary functions -- such as the Bemidji Regional Event Center (or Mozz) and an ugly orange fence to keep people off Lake Bemidji.
