About eight members of a white-supremacist group arrived at the Civic Center on Saturday just after 10 a.m. They were immediately confronted by dozens of opponents.

There was a large police presence, with many officers wearing riot gear.

A number of protesters threw snowballs at the eight people. A Duluth News Tribune report says the people who threw them were apparently taken into custody.

Police escorted the eight people into City Hall. Opponents lingered outside for a while, but cleared out by 11:30 a.m.

The Supreme White Alliance rally was a reaction to a Duluth campaign that urges white people to be aware of racism.
