Dakota Country Foods of West Fargo reported that one of its employees stole 17½ cases of steaks valued at $2,100, Assistant Police Chief Mike Reitan said.

The theft was reported to police at 10 a.m. Tuesday after the owner found one of the company's trucks abandoned in Fargo at Sixth Avenue and Third Street North, Reitan said.

"The steaks had been in the truck at one time and they no longer were there," he said.

Police haven't been able to find the employee to talk to him, Reitan said. Nothing was wrong with the truck, and it's unknown how long it was sitting abandoned in Fargo, he said.
