The Bemidji High School class of 1964 collected money and hired a mason to remove some of the tile ornaments from the old high school prior to its demolition last year. These alumni hoped that the ornaments would be incorporated into the new convention center but this idea was not accepted.
The ornaments are now in storage. I understand that Bemidji High School alumni are holding an all-class reunion this summer. This would be a great time to gather ideas for the use of these salvaged ornaments. Maybe a few choice objects could be displayed at the site of the reunion. It might be possible to collect donations. It would be a shame to let the efforts of the class of 1964 be for naught. It would also be sad for the ornaments to be left in storage.
