Wendell L. Rutchasky, 56, Bemidji, formerly of Cook, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on August 26, 1957 in Hibbing, the son of Beatrice Rankila and William Rutchasky.

Wendell grew up in the Sturgeon Township, Zim and the Angora areas, and graduated from the Cook High School. He was married to Jeanine Billington for 17 years, living in Buyck and Cook. He had been employed with Rutar Logging in Buyck, Lake Gas of Cook, then Ulland Brothers Construction for ten years. He married Sharon Thomas on February 10, 2004 in Bemidji. For the past nine years he was a dedicated truck driver for KGM Construction. Wendell passion was the outdoors, whether it was fishing on his special lake or cutting firewood. He took pride in making and maintaining the trails on his property with his four-wheeler. His little four-legged buddy, "Nick", his constant companion, also enjoyed going on the trails in a special front basket Wendell made for him to ride in.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Steven Rutchasky; his mother-in-law, Shirley Thomas; and his grandparents

Wendell is survived by his wife Sharon Rutchasky of Bemidji; son Joshua (Jill) Rutchasky of Cook; daughters Jolene Gitzlaff of Cook and Jenny Rutchasky of St. Louis Park, MN ; step-daughter, Christine (Mitch) Vaughn of Texas; step-son, Ryan (Karen) Lindseth of Bemidji; father, William (Marge) Rutchasky of Buyck; mother, Beatrice (Roger) Waisanen of Angora; brothers, William (Patty) Rutchasky and Daniel (Margie) Rutchasky both of Cook, and Ronnie (Nikki) Rutchasky of Buyck; sisters Lois (Tim) Reing of Angora, Pauline (Corey V.) Rutchasky of Britt; grandchildren Caleb, Libby, Brock, Reagan, Madison, Renee, and Claire; father-in-law Chuck Thomas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
