Wednesday death near Alexandria may have been drowning

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- A person died Wednesday in what may have been a drowning on Maple Lake near Forada, south of Alexandria.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said it received a 911 call just after 5 p.m. of a possible drowning at 12146 Forada Beach Rd SE. The caller said the victim, Ryan Douglas Dodd, who lived at that address, was found in Maple Lake.

Dodd was recovered from the lake and emergency personnel initiated resuscitation efforts. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
