The National Weather Service said a complex forecast continues today, with bands of snow spreading throughout northwestern Minnesota. Snow accumulations from the storm are expected to vary greatly, with 3 to 6 inches of snow in many places. Higher amounts are possible in some locations.

Winds from the east/southeast, gusting to 30 mph, will switch later today and this evening, with winds then coming from the northeast and north.

The weather service said travel will be dangerous and motorists should only travel in an emergency. Those traveling should carry an extra flashlight, food and water in case of emergencies, the weather service advises.
