Former Detroit Lakes resident Wayne C. Gordon, 61 of Big Lake, Minn., passed away at his home on Saturday, June 28, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Wayne Charles Gordon (also known as "Mr. G") was born to Charles and Adeline (Sloan) Gordon on Aug. 24, 1946 in Sarasota Springs, N.Y. He grew up in the Detroit Lakes area and then served in the U.S. Army., where he was stationed in Thailand. Wayne was a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Cheryl Gordon; sons Timothy (Wendy) Gordon of Detroit Lakes and Tony (Kristina) Gordon of Audubon; daughter Tonya Gordon of Minneapolis; brothers Rick (Bonnie) Gordon of Detroit Lakes and Mark Gordon of Moorhead; a grandson and his canine buddy, Granite.
Preceding Wayne in death were his parents, Charles and Adeline; sister Betsy; and brother Timothy.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello. There will be a private interment. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
