Wayne C. Jackson, 74, of Clearbrook, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook with the Rev. Tom Seaver officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Flag presentation and taps will be conducted by the Melvin Johnson American Legion Post No. 256 of Clearbrook. Burial will be in Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook.
The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1934, to Cambel and Wanda (Erickson) Jackson in Badger, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Badger High School in 1952. He moved to Minneapolis after graduating from high school and worked for Pioneer Plating. In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1960.
On June 23, 1956, he married Fern Bardwell. They raised five children and farmed from 1960-1970. They moved into Clearbrook, and he was employed by Arctic Cat and at the grain elevator. He also liked to help area farmers and to drive around and look at the fields on Sunday afternoons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Clearbrook; daughters, Pamey Lipscy of Grand Rapids, Minn.; Sheryl (Kevin) Berg of Gonvick; Carolyn (Shawn) Carter of Tucson, Ariz., and Kelly (Micheal) McConkey of Brainerd, Minn.; son, Bradley (Mary Jo) Jackson of Clearbrook; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
