Wanda Bennett, 84, of Cass Lake, MN, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at her home in Cass Lake.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Cass Lake, MN with Rev. Janeva Stromberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. A lunch will follow the interment at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Cass Lake.

She was born on May 20, 1929, in Clarkfield, MN, the daughter of Palmer and Bertha (Barie) Anderson. She moved with her family to Cass Lake in 1931 where she was raised and educated. She attended Cass Lake High School and graduated as an Honor Student. She attended Northern Business College in Bemidji. She started as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank in Cass Lake in 1948 and worked her way up to cashier before leaving in 1955. She married Kenneth T. Bennett on November 20, 1955 in Cass Lake. They lived in Pelican Rapids, MN for a year before transferring back to Cass Lake. They started Bennett Oil Company in 1963 and Wanda was the bookkeeper. She worked for the US Forest Service from 1957 until 1966, when she became a stay at home Mom to two sons Mike and Rich. She returned to work at the US Forest Service in 1982 until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church almost all her life, serving on the church board, several offices, in the choir, and as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Cass Lake American Legion Auxiliary where she served in a number of offices including President and Past President. She served as the Chairperson of the local HUD office, was a Cub Scout leader, and sang with the Sweet Adelines for 10 years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crafts, bowling, watching movies, dancing, singing, crossword puzzles, and most of all making people smile.

She is survived by: her sons,Michael (Colleen) Bennett of Laporte, MN, Richard (Chelsea) Bennett of Bemidji, MN, Brother, Ronald (Millie) Anderson of Wheaton, MN, Grandchildren; Brittany, Lauren, Kristina, Cori, Dustin, Kenneth, Jordan, and Maegan, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Friend, Roger Lothringer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1995, her parents, and her nephew.

Honorary Casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
