Walleye tournament to fight cystic fibrosis is Saturday
CASS LAKE — A few spots remain for the 12th annual Cystic Fibrosis Walleye Classic which will be Saturday on Cass Lake.
Sponsored by Steve and Julie Ballou who own Break on the Lake Resort, the tournament is held to raise money to fight cystic fibrosis.
Last year’s tournament and dinner generated more than $4,000 to help fight the disease.
The field will be restricted to 70 boats and the winning team will earn $2,000. The top 20 teams will be in the money and the team that places 30th will collect $500. Entry fee is $300 per boat.
The take-off will be 8 a.m. at Break on the Lake Resort and boats must return to the resort by 3 p.m. Each two-angler team is allowed to weigh six walleyes and two of the fish may be over 20 inches.
A rules meeting and benefit prime rib dinner will be 7 p.m. today at Cadillac’s Northstar Grille (just south of the Leech Lake Tribal College). The public is invited to the dinner and tickets are $30. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with the cocktail hour and the dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. An auction will follow the dinner.
