The Bemidji rink of Aaron Wald, Trevor Andrews, Josh Bahr and Atticus Wallace captured the national championship of the U.S. Curling Association club tournament in Mankato.
The rink was 3-3 after six round-robin games but finished strong, sweeping Illinois, Washington and Wisconsin, to earn the third seed in the playoffs with a 6-3 record.
In the semifinals against Illinois Bemidji trailed 5-4 heading into the 10th end but the team used the hammer to score three and post the 7-5 victory.
In Sunday's championship game against Washington Bemidji scored two in the first and stole a pair in the second. After Washington drew within 4-3 Bemidji countered with two in the fifth and eventually ran Washington out of rocks in the 10th end to win 9-5.
