Wald rink goes out on winning streak at Junior World Curling Championships
The Aaron Wald rink capped its World Junior Curling Championship competition in Perth, Scotland with a three-game winning streak but the United States representative fell short in its bid to qualify for the playoffs.
Wald completed the round-robin with a 4-5 record and was two victories shy of the playoffs.
Sweden won the round-robin with an 8-1 record and will face Switzerland (7-2) in Friday's playoffs. In the other boys playoff match-up Norway will face Canada. Both ended the round-robin 6-3.
Wald stopped China 6-4 Thursday in its tournament finale, taking a 3-1 lead after four ends and maintaining a slight edge the rest of the way.
The USA team includes Josh Bahr of Bemidji, Wald of Chisholm, Jared Zezel of Hibbing and John Muller of Hibbing.
