Vote for change to avoid tax hikes

Email

We hear almost daily that the "Bush tax cuts" are set to expire at the end of this year. Just for starters the payroll tax rollback will mean about a $1,000 increase for the average family and it only gets worse. Married couples will pay more. The "death tax" will go from 35 to 55 percent. The "alternative minimum tax" will then hit millions of taxpayers.

If you are deducting local sales tax or looking to take advantage of that new energy efficient washer and dryer, forget it as that will be gone. Numbers like what you will see after the end of December are staggering. If you stacked $100 bills the total number of tax dollars would equal more than 30 round trips to the international space station.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that such massive tax increases will plunge this country into a deep recession. This should get your attention unless you are one of the 47 percent that pay no income taxes. To avoid a painful tax trip into orbit, change horses in the White House and the Senate Nov. 6. Remember the advice from Larry the Cable Guy: "Get 'er done!"
