BEMIDJI – Despite a more spirited effort than in its previous match, the Bemidji State volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-15) in an NSIC contest to Northern State Saturday afternoon.

NSU won the first two sets, but both were close. BSU closed the gap in each but the Huskies closed them out with a run each time.

In the third set, the Beavers (3-13, 1-8 NSIC) came out strong to take a pair of six-point leads at 13-7 and 16-10. NSU rallied to make it a close 25-22 final, but the Beavers never trailed and secured the 25-22 win.

In the final set, BSU couldn’t find its groove after falling behind 10-3 and the Huskies finished them off.

Senior Bethany Thompson tied a match-high with 16 kills and now has 194 on the year. She also had 10 digs in the match to secure her team-leading seventh double-double of the season.

In addition to solid play out of Thompson, Chelsea Frison matched a career-high with three total blocks, Courtney Volkmann chipped in 35 assists, and Courtney Fox made an appearance as the team’s libero and registered a BSU-high 12 digs. Volkmann and Fox also each posted a pair of service aces.
