HIBBING – The Bemidji volleyball team rode the momentum gained by going 2-2 at last weekend’s prestigious Apple Valley Invitational and posted a 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 victory Tuesday against the Bluejackets.

Tuesday’s triumph was Bemidji’s 10th in 13 matches and the Lumberjacks will shoot for win No. 11 Thursday when they host Grand Rapids.

“We started slowly but we recovered well in the final two games,” said BHS coach Teresa Colligan.

The first set was deadlocked 24-24 but Allie Heifort broke the stalemate with a kill. A Hibbing miscue provided the winning point and Bemidji was on its way.

Alexa Greendahl dished 29 set assists in the match while Jess Yost had six blocks and Blake Bardwell four.

Yost also paced the Jacks with 17 kills. Timi Severson added eight and Heifort seven.

Heifort also smacked three aces and Yost contributed 12 digs.
