VOLLEYBALL: Bemidji 14U team splits at national tourney
MINNEAPOLIS — The Bemidji 14U Black Ice Junior Olympic volleyball team split a pair of matches at the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships Thursday in Minneapolis.
The tournament, being held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, concludes today.
Bemidji, which is now 5-3 overall, fell to a team from Houston, Texas, 25-16 and 25-17 before rallying to top Sioux Falls, S.D., 14-25, 25-18, 15-7.
“The competition today was the best we have seen,” Bemidji coach Teresa Colligan said. “The girls did a great job coming back in the Sioux Falls game for the win.”
The team will return to the court today when they’ll participate in the Flight One playoff bracket at 11 a.m.
Bemidji received a bye into the second round.
The winner will play in the championship match at 1 p.m.
