Volleyball: Bemidji 14U Junior Olympic team 3-0 in Wednesday's action at national meet
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Bemidji 14U Black Ice Junior Olympic volleyball team opened its national tournament pool play competition Tuesday and dropped two of its three pool play matches.
Bemidji fared much better Wednesday, however, as the Black Ice went 3-0.
In Tuesday's opener, Bemidji fell 25-18, 25-18 to Washington and then was edged 18-25, 25-17, 15-11 by California. In its Tuesday finale Bemidji swept Hawaii 25-15, 25-7.
On Wednesday, Bemidji swept its second-day pool opponents, downing Oklahoma 26-24, 25-16, Milwaukee I 25-17, 25-19 and Milwaukee II 19-25, 25-17, 15-11.
Today, Bemidji will have another three matches in pool play and on Friday it will compete in bracket play.
Members of the team, which is coached by Netti Homer and Teresa Colligan, include Bemidji players Jenna Lewis, Anna Carey, Evette Morgan, Rumer Flatness, Makenna Quinn, Kennedy Mills, Anna Falldorf, Addie Colligan, Alexis Wade and Britney Bennett plus Casey Volkmann of Wadena and Victoria Johnson of Roseau.

Bemidji's 16U Black Ice team will head to Minneapolis on Monday for the national meet in its division.
