Augustana broke its four-match losing streak Friday night with a 3-1 college volleyball win over visiting Bemidji State. The Vikings came out on top with match scores of 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, and 25-17.
The win improves Augie to 12-16 this season and 7-9 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers drop to 9-18 on the season and 6-10 in the NSIC.
Bemidji State started the game out on a 4-0 run thanks to strong serving by Lindsey Weyer, but Augustana bounced back to win the first two sets.
Bemidji State built a lead in the third set, leading 10-5. The Vikings were able to pull within one at 16-15, but the Beavers score three points in a row to increase their lead to 19-15. Augie was unable to answer and a kill by Bemidji State's Laura Slinger ended the set 25-20.
Augie dominated set four, leading by 13 points after an attack error by the Beavers changed the score to 21-8. The Beavers had just 10 kills with six errors in the fourth, making the deficit hard to make up, and the Vikings closed out the match.
Bemidji State completes the road trip with a match at Wayne State today.
