Victim in Cass Lake shooting identified

The victim in a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in Cass Lake has been identified.

The victim was Amos Ervin Laduke, 31, of Cass Lake, according to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

According to Cass County:

Laduke was shot just after 3:30 p.m. near Tract 34 in Cass Lake. Laduke was taken by air ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

A suspect, a 22-year-old Cass Lake man, has been arrested and is currently in Cass County Jail. The suspect has not been charged.

The incident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff's Office; Pike Bay Police Department; Leech Lake Tribal Police; Leech Lake Department of Natural Resources; Minnesota Department of Natural Resources; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives; Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
