Veterans lead Bemidji State at indoor meet

DULUTH - Veteran leadership was on display Saturday as seniors Taylor Sautbine and Tina Larson led the Bemidji State University track and field team at the College of St. Scholastica Opener. Sautbine earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 60-meter dash (8.01) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.45), while Larson captured the 1,000-meter race in a time of 3:08.56. Senior Ashley Larva was second in the 200-meter dash (27.56). BSU also got a boost from some new faces. Newcomer Kaneeshia Johnson was a step behind Sautbine in the 60-meter hurdles finishing fourth (8.16) and took third in the long jump (17-01.25) and Hailey Horob cleared 10-0.5 in the pole vault to claim third in her first collegiate meet. The Beavers now break for the holidays before returning to action Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. when they host BSU’s annual alumni meet at Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center.
