Vernetta J. Schluter, 88 of Bemidji died Monday, April 27, 2009 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.
At Netta's request graveside services will be at 3:00 pm, Monday, May 4, 2009 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
She was born November 2, 1920 in Princeton, MN the daughter of Henry and Ada (Jaenicke) Schmidt. She grew up and attended school in Isle; moving to Cass Lake in 1933. She graduated in 1939. She was a clerk for several grocery stores in the area. She married Boyd Schluter on July 2, 1943 in Crookston, MN. During WWII she helped run the Phillip's 66 Station in Cass Lake. She worked at Reutter's Hartz Store as a check-out clerk for 20 years. She retired in 1980. She was a charter member of the ladies auxiliary of both the VFW and the Cass Lake American Legion.
She is survived by 2 sons- Boyd "Nick" (Kathy) Schluter, Jr. of Charlton, Massachusetts and Curtis J. (Margie) Schluter of Bossier City, Louisiana, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 9, 1998, her parents, 3 brothers Clarence, Rollie and Henry, Jr., and 3 sisters Lillian Curtis, Marjorie Johnson and Luella Johnson.
