Vernetta J. "Netta" Schluter, 88
Vernetta J. "Netta" Schluter, 88, of Bemidji, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.
At her request graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
She was born Nov. 2, 1920, to Henry and Ada (Jaenicke) Schmidt in Princeton, Minn. She grew up and attended school in Isle, Minn., moving to Cass Lake in 1933. She graduated in 1939. She was a clerk for several grocery stores in the area. She married Boyd Schluter July 2, 1943, in Crookston, Minn. During World War II, she helped run the Phillip's 66 station in Cass Lake. She worked at Reutter's Hartz Store as a checkout clerk for 20 years. She retired in 1980. She was a charter member of the ladies auxiliary of both the VFW and the Cass Lake American Legion.
She is survived by her sons, Boyd "Nick" (Kathy) Schluter, Jr. of Charlton, Mass., and Curtis J. (Margie) Schluter of Bossier City, La.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sept. 9, 1998; parents; and brothers, Clarence and Henry Jr.
