Verizon Wireless adds new cell site

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Bemidji, which will provide more customers with clearer reception and fewer dropped calls, according to a news release from Verizon.

The cell site, located near the intersection of Anne Street Northwest and Pine Ridge Avenue Northwest, improves coverage as follows:

E North to Balsam Road Northwest.

E South to Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest.

E East to Birchmont Drive Northeast.

E West to Cardinal Road Northwest.

In addition to improving call quality, the new cell site will enable more customers to use their wireless phones to send and receive email as well as text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos and download music, games and ringtones, the news release stated.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $59 billion since it was formed - $5.7 billion on average every year - to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. From 2001 through 2009, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $619.1 million on improvements to its network in Minnesota.

Verizon Wireless operates the nation's largest wireless voice and 3G data network, serving nearly 93 million customers. It is headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., with 81,000 employees nationwide.
