Vandals hit downtown sculptures again

Vandals reportedly have hit the downtown Sculpture Walk, this time taking off the top half of this sculpture. (Submitted photo)

Sculpture Walk founder Al Belleveau filed a police report Monday regarding the apparent vandalism/theft of one of the walk’s sculptures, “Soulful Jazz” by Katie Hruby-Schmidt of Walker. Belleveau said the upper torso of the sculpture was removed sometime last week. He discovered the vandalism on Thursday, he said. The sculpture is located on the southeast corner of Third Street and Minnesota Avenue in downtown Bemidji.

Property damage to another Sculpture Walk piece also was reported late last month.

Anyone with useful information on the vandalism should contact police at (218) 333-9111
