UPDATED: Man reportedly dead after falling at least 100 feet from cell phone tower near Solway

SOLWAY - Solway firefighters have been called to a report of a person who died after falling from a cell phone tower here.

An emergency call came into Beltrami County Sheriff's dispatchers at 5:52 p.m. about a person who fell from the tower.

According to dispatchers, the report came from a caller who was 160 feet above the ground on the tower.

Emergency crews were called to a tower at 134 Loman Ave., directly south of the Solway Elementary School.

One dispatch report said the person who fell was not wearing a harness. Another report said the person fell at least 100 feet.

Shortly after 6 p.m., crews called to airlift the man to the hospital were called off. A dispatch report stated the man had died.

No other details were immediately available.
