UPDATED: Fire damages Turtle River business

TURTLE RIVER -- A fire hit a Turtle River salon and spa business on Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported at 8:55 a.m. on the 400 block of Wilderness Waves Lane SW, where the Wilderness Waves Salon, Spa and Resort is located, which is about 10 miles north of Bemidji.

When firefighters from Bemidji and Blackduck arrived at the scene, they found flames exiting from the roof of the building, according to a release from the Bemidji Fire Department. A total of 24 firefighters used two fire engines, a ladder truck and three water tenders to battle the blaze, which caused an estimated $154,000 in damage to the structure and contents, officials said. No injuries were reported and fire crews were on scene for 6.5 hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, the Bemidji Fire Department and the state Fire Marshal's Office. Firefighters were assisted on the scene by Minnesota Department of Natural Resources firefighters, the sheriff's office, Bemidji Ambulance Service and Beltrami Electric Cooperative.
