Unofficial election results are in

Tuesday's unofficial election results for Independent School District 36 in Kelliher and for a resolution in Koochiching County in the Northome-Indus School District were posted on the Minnesota Secretary of State's website Wednesday.

ISD 36 school board candidates vied for three spots on the Kelliher School Board with a total of 142 ballots being cast.

Incumbent Ed Gehlert received 126 votes, Barb Woltjer received 112 votes and Robert Hoyum received 44 votes. Write-in candidate Jerry Geerdes received 86 votes. Other write-in candidates received a total of 21 votes collectively.

Each elected Kelliher board member will commit to four-year posts to the six-member board.

The question on the ballot for the 40 voters who cast ballots in ISD 363 Koochiching/Rainy River School District regarded the approval of a school district bond issue.

The question as to whether the school board should be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $495,000 to provide funds a phased program of acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including acquisition and installation of instructional equipment, textbooks, supplies and improved technology systems with said bond to be repaid from funds on hand and available in the debt redemption fund of the school district.

The resolution passed 40-0 in favor of the bond issuance.
