U-Mary sweeps Bemidji State softball team
The Bemidji State softball team lost both games of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon against U-Mary by scores of 14-2 and 6-0.
The first game saw the Beavers get two runs on four hits while committing three errors.
Danika Stelton was BSU's leader at the plate and went 2-for-3 with both RBIs in the game. She scored Ashly Erickson and Courtney Loegering on a single to center field in the second inning to briefly cut Mary's lead to 4-2.
Mary closed out the game by scoring five runs each in the fourth and fifth innings. BSU pitcher Kelsey Saralampi pitched the entire game for BSU and had three strikeouts.
Megan Beard was 2-for-3 in the second game. Megan Bergeson and Loegering also had hits for the Beavers in the loss.
Courtney Anderson pitched the second game for BSU. She gave up seven hits and recorded eight strikeouts to improve her season total to 118.
Bemidji State now falls to 5-25 on the season and 4-18 in conference play.
Up next for the Beavers are weekend doubleheaders against Winona State on Friday and Upper Iowa on Saturday.
The Friday doubleheader against Winona State will begin at noon at the BSU Softball Field.
