Two-vehicle crash in Bemidji results in injuries

BEMIDJI -- Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Bemidji.

A 2006 Chrysler Town and Country was broadsided by a 2004 Chevrolet Impala in a crash that occured at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and state Highway 197.

According to a report by the Minnesota State Patrol, Gregory M. Castellano, 23, was driving the Impala west on 197 in the right lane when it broadsided the Town and Country driven by Doreen D. Norgaard, 56, of Shevlin, who had been traveling east on Highway 197 when she made a left-hand turn to head north on Highway 71.

Doreen Norgaard was not injured, but her husband, Thomas T. Norgaard, 65, was a passenger in her vehicle and was injured. He and Castellano were both taken to Sanford in Bemidji.

All three were reported to be wearing seatbelts and both airbags deployed. Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
