Two men charged in series of Hubbard County burglaries

On Thursday, May 20, 2010, the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office received information in regards to several recent burglaries that had occurred in the Park Rapids area.

Upon further investigation, deputies met with a Mitchell Bugge, age 37, of Park Rapids. Bugge provided a statement in regards to participating in 23 cabin burglaries in Hubbard County and one in Becker County. These burglaries were all committed within the past month.

A search warrant of Bugge's residence produced several thousand dollars worth of stolen property, including deer stands, televisions, propane tanks and heaters, chainsaws, tools, ammunition, an air compressor, trolling motors, fishing tackle/poles, a generator, one rifle, and many other miscellaneous items.

The investigation also produced a second suspect, Michael Moorhouse, age 29, of Park Rapids, who was later apprehended. Moorhouse also stated he was involved in the burglaries.

Bugge wasarraigned on Monday, May 24, on multiple burglary charges, along with felon in possession of a firearm, and a probation violation. Moorhouse wasarraigned on Monday, May 24, on multiple burglary charges.
