The men arrested were Paul A. Mix, 27, of Bemidji, and Steven L. Obrien, 39, of Cass Lake, Sgt. Ross Renner said in a news release. The men tried and failed to escape on foot when police came to 2842 Royal Estates Road N.E. in Bemidji, acting on a tip from the public, Renner said.

The men, who are being held in the Beltrami County Jail, are expected to face charges in Beltrami County, but could also be charged in Fargo, Renner said.

Two trailers were stolen early Wednesday from the Fargo tire shop, one of which carried more than $50,000 in tires. Renner said that a majority of the tires were recovered, but the trailer the tires were in hasn't been recovered. An empty trailer was found Wednesday in West Fargo.
