Two injured in two-vehicle crash in Beltrami County
Two people were injured in an accident involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and state Highway 89.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls:
A 1993 Buick LeSabre driven by Tina Renee Northbird, 32, of Bemidji was southbound on Highway 89 when it slid through the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 2 and collided with a 1996 International Truck semi driven by Daryl Gene Hinrichs of Shelvin, which was westbound on Highway 2.
The accident was reported at 6:34 p.m. The roads were icy at the time of the accident.
Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to North Country Regional Hospital.
But there was no record of Hinrichs at the hospital, so he may not have been seen.
Northbird was treated and released.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
A passenger in the LeSabre, 22-year-old Keith C. Wilder, address not listed, was not injured. He also was wearing his seat belt.
The semi was not damaged while the LeSabre sustained severe damage.
