Two Chisholm-area men were injured when the ultralight airplane they were in crashed Monday evening.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, pilot Ronald Cappo, 52, and passenger Daniel Charter, 49, experienced engine problems shortly after taking off from an airstrip near Dewey Lake and crashed in a field. They were treated at the University Medical Center-Mesabi Hospital in Hibbing. Cappo was later transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff's office reported. The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. about 10 miles northwest of Chisholm.
