Two charged for Cass County thefts
A man and a woman have been charged in Cass County for the theft of sporting equipment and tools from the Walker, Cass Lake and neighboring areas.
According to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office:
Wesley Lauinger, 20, of Frazee, Minn., and Alisa Peterson, 19, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., were charged with one count of third-degree burglary, receiving stolen property and liability for crimes of another.
Both remain in custody in Cass County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000 without conditions or $40,000 with conditions.
The arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation into the theft and pawning of stolen equipment.
Lauinger and Peterson were arrested when the vehicle there were in was spotted by a Cass County deputy who stopped the vehicle south of Walker on state Highway 371.
Property that had been reported stolen from the Walker area was found in the vehicle.
Property reported stolen from Cass Lake has since been recovered from numerous pawn shops.
