Two Cass Lake Schools receive MMR designations
CASS LAKE - Two Cass Lake schools were highlighted in the state's Department of Education's Multiple Measurement Ratings.
Cass Lake-Bena Elementary School received a Focus distinction. The distinction puts the school in the top 10 percent of Title 1 schools making the biggest contribution to the state's achievement gap.
Cass Lake-Bena Secondary was designated as a Priority school because it falls in the 5 percent of schools with the most persistently low performing Title 1 schools in the state.
Priority schools will receive full support from the Department of Education and the newly created Regional Centers of Excellence to develop a school turnaround plan.
Focus schools will work with their district to develop a school improvement plan that directly addresses poor performance either within a subgroup or in graduation rates.
