They taught an eighth-grade social studies class about the American Indian culture as it relates to the book, "Neither Wolf Nor Dog." The book was written by Kent Nerburn, an author from the Bemidji area.

The students are in Moen's Pre-Advanced Placement Reading Skills class, which is based on the book. The book also is being read during the school year in all eighth-grade classes in Pine Island.
