Train derails near Canada-Minnesota border
Some residents of Emerson, Manitoba, on the border with Minnesota were evacuated after a train derailed in town, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Tuesday.
Police responded around 7:30 a.m. and found that two cars containing unscented propane had derailed. However, they didn’t detect any leaks.
No one was injured and there was no fire.
As a precaution, emergency responders evacuated the 40 residents who live within about 100 yards of the derailment.
Emerson, a town of 700, is about 200 miles north and west of Bemidji just on the other side of the border from Noyes, Minn.
The RCMP says the investigation into the derailment continues.
