The Bemidji Mudcats head south tonight to face the St. Francis Saints in a single game.
Saturday's game at Shakopee has been cancelled by the Coyotes. It marks the second Twin Cities opponent to pull out of a Mudcats date following the St. Paul Mudhens who withdrew from a twin bill here last weekend.
The Blue Ox, however, face a busy slate going to Roseau for a Saturday twin bill and to Crookston for another pair Sunday.
All four will be Norman-Polk League contests.
The Ox lost its opening twin bill at East Grand Forks last weekend when that team was unable to field a team. Those games will be replayed later.
Veteran Paul Fenner (0-1) will get the Mudcats start tonight. He drew the loss in the 2-1 loss to the Blue Ox last week, coming in to hurl the ninth inning of a 1-1 tie and yielding a run.
Manager Scott Seaton expects to see several of his veterans for the first time tonight including Phil Ronnebaum and John Grindeland.
But he will be missing several of his younger players due to conflicts with graduation parties.
On the other hand, Blue Ox manager Chris Conway expects his full squad.
He expects a good turnout through the early going and has scheduled most of his road games during the early stretch when the interest is high.
He will gb tomorrow at Roseau with ace Cody Gross and lefthander Sam Saccoman.
On Sunday, Justin Huether and Matt Fossen will draw the starting calls. Fossen was the winning hurler over the Mudcats in a relief role.
