Antoinette "Toni" Andrea Mattson ,66, of Bemidji died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with Pastor Steve Thompson.

Toni was born January 16, 1947 in North St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Samuel and Beatrice (Stadler) Coburn. She was raised and educated in the White Bear Lake area and graduated from high school there in 1965. She graduated from Bemidji State College with a teaching degree and then taught at Hinckley for a year. She returned to Bemidji State to finish a Masters degree. She married Bob Mattson on Oct. 20, 1977 in Bemidji. She taught Elementary School at Solway, Horace May and spent the majority of her career at J. W. Smith, retiring 10 years ago. She loved education and children so much, she substitute taught until this fall. She worked part time at Bemidji State Park at the front gate. Her passion was gardening, growing flowers and vegetables, especially tomatoes which she shared generously. She was a wonderful cook and loved to put on gourmet dinners. Travel was important to her, experiencing all that big cities had to offer and also getting away from it all by camping or spending time at their Turtle River Lake cabin.

She is survived by her husband- Robert "Bob" Mattson of Bemidji, 2 sons- Robin (Rebecca Reimer) Mattson of Bemidji, Benjamin Mattson of Aztec, New Mexico, 4 grandchildren Emitt, Montgomery, Samantha and Stephanie, a brother- Samuel "Rusty" Coburn of Oakdale, MN, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Kathleen Jensen.
