Toddler falls from third story window in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- A 2-year-old boy fell from a third-story apartment window at a University of North Dakota apartment complex Tuesday, according to campus police.

University Police Chief Eric Plummer said officers arrived at Carleton Court to find the boy inside with his family after falling from their apartment window with a screen in place. The toddler was taken to Altru Hospital with unknown injuries.

The windows are above a grassy area.

The incident is still under investigation but Plummer said no foul play is suspected.

Grand Forks County Social Services Director Ed Christ said his agency was notified.

“Who knows what the situation is, but that’s our responsibility to investigate and determine whether or not the caretaker, which could be a parent, family member or babysitter, is providing appropriate care,” he said.
