Bruce Aalgaard also will be happy to collect any donated items and he can be reached at 444-8188.

The rods and reels do not have to be in working condition. If they are in need of repair Aalgaard will fix the reels and Ron Haack will fix the rods.

The donation program began in 1995 with a goal of giving 1,000 rod and reel combinations to area youngsters who did not have their own equipment.

That goal was reached last summer and a new target of 2,000 rods and reels has been established.

The 2012 Take A Kid Fishing event is June 6.
