BEMIDJI – Despite the high demand for this weekend’s Bemidji State vs. Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey series at the Sanford Center, there are still tickets available for both games. But hockey fans should be willing to stand.
Garrett Kollin, Sanford Center ticketing and marketing manager, said as of Thursday afternoon were a “good 400-plus” tickets left for tonight’s game, which is set for a 7:37 p.m. faceoff.
“I think those will go down pretty fast,” Kollin said.
For Saturday’s game, set to begin at 7:07 p.m., tickets were sold out.
But Sanford Center officials decided to do something they’d never done before – open up standing-room-only tickets.
The SRO tickets, which cost $35, will be in the club level. Kollin said Thursday afternoon there were fewer than 100 standing-room-only tickets.
Student tickets are also available for both nights. BSU and Northwest Tech students can purchase tickets for $5 if they present a school ID at the door. Additionally, the first 500 student ticket holders in the door will receive a free white T-shirt with a special “whiteout design courtesy” of Midcontinent Communications.
Other BSU fans in attendance are also encouraged to wear white.
Kollin and other Sanford Center officials said they’ve been anticipating this series for months. Kollin expects good crowds both nights – especially Saturday.
“I think Saturday will be the largest crowd we’ve ever had at the Sanford Center for Beaver hockey,” he said. “It’s pretty exciting.”
